My Autumn Equinox Harvest blessings to you

Autumn Equinox Blessings to you.

True time Wednesday 23rd September 2026 12:06am

Cónacht Fómhair in Irish, is a time of gratitude for the year's harvest and preparation for cooler, introspective months. This is another beautiful festival and portal of energy to tune into the rhythms of nature and the seasons.

The central idea is the harvest. As I write this quite literally the apple pickers are in the orchard behind me gathering in the abundant apple harvest. The theme is balance and harmony. This seasonal energy marks a point of cosmic balance when the light of day and dark of night are equal, help to bring you back to wholeness. And reflect upon where can you bring more balance into your life?

For me this allows me another opportunity to be guided by Goddess Macha, the fierce Ulster sovereignty and horse goddess. I have consciously connected with Macha as my guide and teacher for some 10 years. Before then, she was whispering to me but I was sleeping and not ready for the power she holds. But when my soul needed her the most she helped me to awaken and has since helped me remember and know how to sustain my connection with the land. My spiritual practices with Macha are tied deeply to the earth, fertility, and royal power at the ancient royal site of Emain Macha aswell as my home, throughout Ulster and all of Ireland. Macha is a nurturer and mother of the hearth and land. It is at autumn equinox that this truly comes into fruition with the fecundity of the harvest of the land. The proof that to live in right relationship with the land is how we can live well. What we give, we receive in abundance. A beautiful wisdom from the Goddess who held such sacred feminine presence that came into divine union when respected by the sacred masculine, which meant working and living alongside in harmony. It is this remembering this gives such blessings when we remember her. Perhaps also in an antidote for the curse that seems to get the headlines more. For now allow yourself to be embraced by the call to fall into the arms of the Goddess. Maybe for you this is Macha or another Goddess, or Mother Earth who’s healing and abundance is for all who works with her. Her grounding is deeply nurturing and inwardly nourishing. She is the holding that you may be calling for as this time to allow you to go within, to be still and listen to your intuition.

Here is what you can do at this time in a ritual or ceremony as this is a time to reflect:

  1. Recognise your harvest, write in your journal what you are grateful for and give thanks for the abundance you have.

  2. Go for a walk in nature and gather up what means autumn equinox to you - fallen leaves, acorns, conkers, apples, blackberries and create an altar in honour of this time to support your healing and life.

  3. Bake an apple tart, sponge or crumble. And if you are so lucky to have an abundance of blackberries in the hedgerows surrounding you make some organic jam. This is how I connect to my ancestors also, so if there is a food of autumn harvest more connected for you cook or bake with that. Don’t forget to call your ancestors in.

  4. Listen to my guided meditation below. Listen to this anytime over the next 3 days as we are in the heightened energy portal of this time

  5. After notice what adjustments you may need to make in your life, one is ample, to bring something back into balance.

  6. What will you carry forward with you as you walk the wheel into true autumn towards early winter?

  7. Bring your body into equilibrium with movement and connect in with Macha and the equinox energy to seek personal equilibrium, release what is out of balance, and ground your body and mind.

Allow time for a pause in the day, if this was all you did (especially if you don’t allow for this already) you’d be honouring this potent liminal time.

Some notes on the guided healing meditation:

  • This is a healing meditation that is energised and full of celebration for the harvest energy of this time.

  • The apple is highly regarded in the Celtic tradition as a fruit that opens the ways to the Otherworld.

  • You can meditate to this imagining you are walking (listen to the meditation) or go on a very slow, resent mindful walk in a forest or orchard or by an oak tree.

  • Macha’s energy is present in the infinity symbol, when you call in the guides, if you wish you can call her in also.

  • This is a very grounding meditation but do check in with how you feel after and if extra grounding or time in between starting anything else is needed, please do so.

Enjoy this beautiful time, it’s truly time to allow some sacred time for yourself or with others that will sustain you in the coming weeks and months.
